Aqualung introduces eco-friendly wetsuit under XSCAPE collection

Aqualung, a dive and watersports gear specialist, has introduced a new eco line that includes a 100% neoprene-free wetsuit called XSCAPE collection.

The XSCAPE range is built for a range of water activities and features a 100% neoprene-free wetsuit and a rash guard constructed from sustainable materials. It represents Aqualung’s commitment to innovation, ocean discovery, and sustainability.

The 4/3mm XSCAPE wetsuit, made of Yulex® eco-friendly natural rubber and ultra-stretch, offers improved comfort for scuba diving, snorkeling, freediving, paddling, and a variety of other water sports in warm waters or above surface activities in colder climates.

The XSCAPE wetsuit, which comes in a red and olive version for men and a tropical-inspired print for women, introduces customers to nature and the natural materials that are used in the collection.

Powertex knee pads, recycled, quick-drying fleece around the chest area for added warmth and comfort, and a reusable mesh bag for storage or removing litter from the beach or water are also included in the suit.

The grandson of one of Aqualung’s original founders, Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau. And the global ocean ambassador of Aqualung, Philippe Cousteau Jr., said that Aqualung’s tradition of creativity and tireless work to build the world’s most forward-thinking and environmentally friendly dive business continues with the XSCAPE series. Through their decisions, they have the ability to change the environment, and the XSCAPE sets the universal benchmark for stylish, functional, and sustainable wetsuits and rash guards.

The long-sleeve rash guard for men and women in the new collection, as well as complimentary women’s leggings, provide maximum comfort and breathability and can be worn above or below the surface. UV protection is used on both rash guards and leggings, which are made of polyester fiber derived from recycled plastic bottles. The entire XSCAPE collection comes in plastic-free packaging with recycled cardboard hangtags.

Senior Vice President of Brands at Aqualung Group, Laurent Boury, said that their aim was to create the most environmentally conscious wetsuit that could be used for a variety of water sports. Aqualung is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by using environmentally friendly fabrics and methods wherever possible, and they made design decisions to ensure the XSCAPE series was as safe as possible.

Boury added that the collection’s name, XSCAPE, is intended to invoke the sense of adventure and wonder that surrounds exploration, travel, and Aqualung’s storied past, which includes the first “aqua-lung” invented by Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and engineer Emile Gagnan, which made underwater exploration possible.
