Apparel, Made-ups and Home furnishing Sector Skill Council (AHHSSC) with the aim to seek expertise and upgrade the skill of workers in apparel sector in the country is planning to sign Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with two Canadian institutions.
The Council aim is to create a huge skills repository in the apparels and home furnishing sector and thereby, improve quality as well as value-addition of the products.
The Council’s chairman, Arumugam Sakthivel, who is also the president of Tirupur Exporters Association, will sign the MoUs with Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology at Ontario in Canada and Canada India Education Council, a not-for-profit organisation, on April 15 in Canada.
The MoUs would be signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Joseph Harper.
According to Arumugam Sakhthivel, the purpose of signing a MoU is to ensure greater cooperation between the Council and the Canadian partners in the field of training and enhance the skill levels in the Indian textile industry.
As part of the agreements, skill training will be given through workshops to master trainers who in turn will teach wider number of people employed in apparels, made-ups and home furnishing industries.
