The international fashion retail company Inditex has partnered with Jeanologia, a company that creates eco-friendly textile technology, to create the "Air Fiber Washer," an industrial air system. The brand-new team project will be displayed at the ITMA textile technology exhibition.
This machine's function reduces microfiber shedding in household settings while removing microfibers during the manufacturing of clothing. The air fiber washer uses air as opposed to any other energy source, such as heat or water, to reduce microfiber shedding by close to 60%.
Depending on the type of fabric and machine condition, the machine can hold up to 325 Kg of microfiber annually. The device is made up of a "containment bag" that gathers the extracted microfiber and uses it for recycling.
In order to solve issues facing the industry, such as the discharge of microfibres, Javier Losada, chief sustainability officer at Inditex, stated that driving innovative solutions is essential. This initiative with Jeanologia is an illustration of how we may work with different sectors of the economy to reduce our water impacts from the beginning of the production process.
