Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) to boost exports is planning roadmap and would prepare a strategy to accelerate export growth rate in preferential markets for which it will take steps like tapping new markets and facilitating availability of raw material.
AEPC Chairman Ashok G Rajani said that the council would also work to achieve the textile export target of USD 30 billion.
They not only have to reach the target of USD 30 billion that the government has set for them, but have to go ahead and exceed that. With their strategies and the reforms, they don't think it is going to be very difficult.
This action plan is coming from APEC with the Union Cabinet recently approving a Rs 6,000 crore special package for textiles and apparel sector to create one crore new jobs in 3 years, attracting investments of USD 11 billion and generating USD 30 billion in exports.
Quoting Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles Sunaina Tomar, AEPC said that the recent reforms announced by the government would help enhance the growth of the sector. She has asked Rajani to formulate a time bound action plan as to what needs to be done to generate an extra employment.
