Advance Denim becomes a member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol

One of China’s top three denim manufacturers, Advance Denim becomes a member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. This protocol provides the mills and manufacturers the critical assurances which they need to prove to their customers that they are an approved supply chain partner for brands and retailers who source sustainably grown cotton.

The membership of Advance Denim’s marks a remarkable step in its ambitious sustainability program as in order to lessen the manufacturer’s environmental impact, they employ advanced technology and innovation. Advance Denim has decided to source more sustainable fiber through this protocol as they want to make sure that their brand and retailer customers have transparency throughout their supply chains.

Through this new initiative of Trust Protocol, the fashion brands and retailers with the critical assurances need to show the cotton fiber element of their supply chain is more responsibly grown. It provides its member brands which are Gap Inc. and Next,  access to the Trust Protocol credit system. This is done to validate cotton consumption and associated credit; and to aggregate year-over-year data in 6 sustainability areas which are energy use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions, soil loss, soil carbon, and land-use efficiency.

A key role is played by the mills and manufacturer members of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol in providing this more secure and transparent supply chain to brands and retailers. After becoming a member, Advance Denim can now give their customers all-important confidence about the U.S. cotton in their sourcing mix. Other than Advance Denim, there are over 200 other mills and manufacturers who are already members of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol.

The president of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, Dr. Gary Adams said that in sustainable solutions for the denim industry, Advance Denim is committed to playing a leading role. And they are delighted to be supporting them in this ambition. With the addition of new members, they have greater resources that help them in providing tools and knowledge. This will not only help U.S. growers improve their sustainability practices but also give more brands, retailers, mills, and manufacturers, the supply chain confidence they need.

Advance Denim has joined the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol at such a time when the demand for denim is increasing amongst brands and they are looking to satisfy customers and their love for the versatile fabric.

The director of the board, and general manager of Advance Denim, Amy Wang said that the aim of Advance Denim is to make innovative denim with minimal impact on the environment along with making cleaner and greener denim for the next generation. The access to more sustainably grown cotton and the all-important data to prove this to the customers is given after becoming a member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. Their sustainability ambitions will be furthered while working with the Trust Protocol along with giving an important competitive advantage in a marketplace where the focus has been increased on supply chain transparency backed up by data and evidence.
