Adidas to launch it’s re-designed classic

The iconic sportswear brand, Adidas, has redesigned one of its most iconic trainers for a new collection called Clean Classic. These trainers have been designed to reduce the company’s impact on the environment.

The trainers are vegan and aim to reduce plastic waste by utilising 70% recycled materials for the uppers and renewable and reclaimed rubber for the soles.

Clean Classic comprises the company’s premium Primegreen performance fabric. The fabric contains a minimum of 50% recycled content and the new partner cutting method reduces unnecessary waste.

Superstar, Stan Smith, Continental 80, Top Ten, SC Premiere, Supercourt and Superstar Bold are some of the classic trainers in the collection. All of them have been redesigned for 2020.

The company stated that the ‘Adidas Originals’ Clean Classic paid homage to the brand’s heritage of white leather sports shoes with a new pledge of responsibility that shows the brand’s commitment to ending plastic waste.

The brand also stated that this collection alone cannot save the planet, a claim that has appeared in the design language of the collection. Adidas believes that the collection Clean Classic was a commitment to continuous innovation in the field of sustainability.

The soles of the shoes are made of 90% natural rubber and 10% recycled rubber, while the sock lines are made from recycled OrthoLite or cork. Both materials are renewable and recyclable and also non-toxic.

The laces of the shoes are made out of paper and the shoes are packaged in boxes made from left over stock. As the boxes are cut efficiently the prints on the boxes will be created randomly and different from one box to another.
