Sportswear brand, Adidas, has announced that it is an early adopter of TrusTrace‘s newest supply chain system, which allows for near real-time material tracking.
Katja Schreiber, Senior Vice President Sustainability, said that the insights from the solution, called TrusTrace Certified Material Compliance, will help Adidas create even more transparency of their sustainability efforts and gain more visibility into their complete supply chain down to the level of the materials.
By 2024, Adidas wants to be 100 percent recycled polyester, and by 2025, it wants nine out of ten of its goods to have a sustainable technology, material, design, or manufacturing approach.
By recording near real-time data from supply chain transactions as products and materials travel through the value chain, the Certified Material Compliance solution provides companies with detailed visibility into product sustainability KPIs. On the TrusTrace platform, it also connects all purchase orders to production processes, certificates, supplier disclosures, and quality reports, allowing merchants to streamline sustainable compliance.
By calculating disparities between inputs and outputs, also helps to eliminate material waste and boost production efficiency.
Shameek Ghosh, CEO of TrusTrace, said that TrusTrace Certified Material Compliance assists brands in managing risk and compliance while also allowing them to confidently validate sustainability claims.
The solution will give businesses the ability to address more stringent regulations being introduced by the UK and EU governments in the near future, which will require brands to base sustainability claims on verifiable data.
Ghosh added that amid global greenwashing and issues with unfounded claims, businesses and authorities are acting swiftly to instill customer trust that products are, in fact, as sustainable as they claim to be.
