The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has published a Mandarin translation of its report- “Health & Safety Guidelines for Workers in Denim Finishing.” The complete denim finishing guideline is aimed at assisting denim finishing facilities in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment that is free of accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
The guidance is an open-industry resource available to both AAFA members and the broader community to drive health and safety for workers in the denim manufacturing industry.
Nate Herman, senior vice president, policy at the American Apparel & Footwear Association, this guidance is a supplement that denim finishing facilities can use to improve health and safety standards and reduce hazards to their workers and their businesses. They believe that this translation will help move the needle forward in an area that contributes more than 15% of US denim imports. They’d like to express their gratitude to Bureau Veritas for their invaluable technical assistance in making this Mandarin translation a reality.
The AAFA Health and Safety Guidelines for Workers in Denim Finishing are created by the AAFA Safety in Denim Finishing Working Group, which is dedicated to establishing the industry’s most responsible health and safety policies.
AAFA will translate the document into Vietnamese, Spanish, Bangla, and Turkish during the next few months. These translations, when combined with the Mandarin translation, will cover nearly two-thirds of all US denim imports.
The American Automobile Association recently encouraged the US Department of Transportation and the Biden administration to act quickly to address the current shipping crisis.
On October 18, the AAFA submitted comments to the US Department of Transportation in response to a Federal Register notice on the shipping problem that is stymieing the country’s economic recovery.
