4A Yarn Dyeing joins the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-11-01 18:12:46 – Bangladesh

4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. is thought to be the first manufacturer of outerwear garments in the world to sign up to the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, which was organized by the UN to address the climate impact of the fashion industry along its whole value chain.

4A Yarn Dyeing, a manufacturer of clothes with a focus on Bangladesh, claims that adopting the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action demonstrates their dedication to a 50% absolute reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Abdullah Hil Rakib, the managing director of 4A Yarn Dyeing's team group and director of the BGMEA, said that 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd is very much committed to sustainable production and it's also one of the trendsetting enterprises in Bangladesh taking efforts for low carbon garment manufacture. As you are all aware, Bangladesh is one of the nations most at risk from climate change. They signed the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action because they want to work with other important stakeholders to successfully tackle climate change and be a part of the solution to global warming.

Since its launch in 2018, the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action has gained the support of more than 100 fashion and apparel companies, including Adidas, Burberry, Gap Inc., H&M Group, Inditex, Kering, Levi Strauss & Co., and PVH Corp., as well as the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA), Crystal International Group, and Fashion Revolution.

The Charter, which is in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, outlines the vision for the industry to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and specifies the issues that signatories will address, such as the choice of environmentally friendly and sustainable materials and the decarbonization of the supply chain's production phase.

A number of technical working groups have been formed in order to make actual progress, and 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. has joined working groups 3 (manufacturing/energy) and 4 (working group 4) to specify stages for implementation (policy engagement).

Sectors engagement lead of UN Climate Change Global Climate Action, Lindita Xhaferi-Salihu, said that she applaud 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. for signing this significant charter, which symbolizes a special commitment and collaboration from a variety of fashion leaders. The fashion industry will join together under this charter to advance crucial climate work.

Faruque Hassan, president of the BGMEA, said that BGMEA is an organization that supports the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. The fact that BGMEA member factories are now expressing interest in joining the Charter is proof of the Bangladesh clothing industry's consistent progress toward sustainability.
