2022 Beltwide Cotton Conferences to focus on cotton sustainability

The National Cotton Council (NCC) has released the agenda for the Beltwide Cotton Conferences (BWCC) in 2022, which includes a new sustainability conference as well as other cotton-related topics.

The conferences will be held at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel in Texas from January 4-6, 2022. They gather university and USDA researchers, regulatory agencies, extension personnel/agents, consultants, and industry sales/support personnel each year to share information about new products and production/processing systems that can be tailored to individual farming operations for maximum efficiency.

Updates on ThryvOn cotton and its effectiveness in providing season-long protection against tarnished plant bugs and thrips species; herbicide resistance; the US Cotton Trust Protocol; changes in weather patterns and their impact on crops; the Biden administration’s impact on agriculture are among the topics being considered for inclusion in the BWCC’s Consultants Conference on the morning of January 4th.

The Cotton Sustainability Conference, one of the BWCC’s 12 cotton technical conferences, will include findings from current research as well as updates on emerging technology focused on improving US cotton production and processing efficiency. Those sessions will take place at the same time, starting on January 5th in the morning and ending on January 6th at noon.

The US Cotton Trust Protocol will be the centerpiece of the Cotton Sustainability Conference, which will include various panel discussions. Field-to-Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, as well as carbon and organic markets, will also be discussed.

Data analytics, robotics, remote sensing, and unmanned aerial vehicles, among other topics, will be discussed at the Cotton Engineering-Systems Conference.

During the NCC’s virtual annual meeting earlier this year, Kent Fountain was re-elected as chairman for the year 2021.
