In China, mainstream prices of 40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu gained US cents 5 a kg in the last week of February while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan were up US cents 2 a kg. Cash-based offers ring-spun 30s yarn were at US$2.68-2.72 a kg.
Prices for spun viscose yarn remained steady to up, and liquidity was smooth for siro-spun yarn. In China, viscose yarn makers generally resumed normal operation and were fulfilling past orders. Citing rising VSF prices, offers were raised in tandem to rising cost.
Recovery in demand was due to a low level of inventories at spinning mills before holidays and a following rebound in demand after the break. Stocks were also very low at VSF plants, offering ample room for further raising prices.
In India, 30s viscose spun yarn prices inched up INR1 a kg on the week in Indore market.
Viscose yarn prices inched up in India, although VSF prices rolled over since exports have shown uptrend in recent month. January saw viscose yarn export rise 4% both in volume and value term.
In Pakistan, 30s viscose yarn price was unchanged in Karachi market during the week.
