In China, offers for ring?spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan fell US cents 2 a kg in the third week of May, while compact siro?spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu declined US cents 4 a kg on the week. Viscose spun yarn prices declined in line with the VSF markets in China and Pakistan.
Liquidity in China was generally insipid, except for core?spun yarn and a few high?count yarns. Some yarn makers reportedly piled up inventory worth 30 days. However, given the fund pressure, some makers were heard to offload goods, while some intended to extend the holidays for the Dragon Boat Festival.
In Pakistan, VSF prices dropped 3% on the week but viscose yarn prices declined even faster by 3-9%, with more pronounced decline for finer yarns. 35s viscose yarn prices declined PakRs4 per pound (down US cents 8 a kg) and 40s fell even more sharply by PakRs16 a pound (down US cents 34 a kg) in Karachi market.
In India, viscose yarn prices rolled over given the stability in VSF markets and firmness in export prices.
