Polyester yarn price softens in China

In China, offers for 32s polyester yarn in Shengze were down US cent 1 a kg in the last week of May. In Zhejiang, 32s weaving yarn edged down US cents 1-2 a kg on the week.

Polyester spun yarn markets in China were under correction that week. Transactions were moderate and some specs saw better sales. However, downstream mills did not intent to stock up yarn in view of weakening sentiment and they mainly bought goods to meet rigid demand.

In Pakistan, polyester yarn prices generally rolled over in line with steady PSF markets. Export markets were also weak, due to a lack of buying interest from the overseas customers, especially from China.

In India, offers for spun polyester yarn were steady to firm as PSF market was under upward correction.
