Asian paraxylene markers were up US$5 a ton FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the first week of December.
Deal level for January was lower with an open-origin cargo sold at $793 a ton on a CFR Taiwan/Ningbo/Dalian basis.
Paraxylene prices in Asian markets were up on the week but moderated weekend on downstream weakness and deals level for January were lower.
Upstream, isomer mixed xylene was up on buying interest for January while inventor depleted in East China.
In US, spot paraxylene tumbled on weak demand while shipments were quiet despite arbitrage to Asia. Production viability was still unattractive. Spot paraxylene fell US$55 a ton FOB USG on the week.
In Europe, paraxylene spot was down US$5.50 a ton on the week.
December contract prices expectations were mixed due to the lack of a settlement in Asia for December, which implies there was no clear direction.
