Asian paraxylene prices edged down US$0.50 a ton CFR Taiwan/China and FOB Korea in the last week of October. Isomer mixed xylene offers fell US$20 a ton FOB Korea on the week.

Paraxylene prices gained on the first two days of the week and declined midweek, only to recover later and post a mild weekly loss tracking PTA futures.

Meanwhile, November contract prices were nominated up from October. Isomer – mixed xylene market structure changed from flat to a contango weekend.

In US, paraxylene spot edged higher as Asia remained the primary driver amid limited feedstock inventories. Xylene spot slipped with steady fundamentals and supply appeared tight in H1 November. US spot paraxylene rose US$5 a ton FOB USG on the week. Spot mixed xylene pricing for November fell US cents 6 per gallon while orthoxylene spot were down US cent 0.75 per pound on the week.

In Europe, paraxylene prices moved up while orthoxylene prices were down week on week. Mixed xylene prices dropped as buy interest subsides. Paraxylene prices gained US$4 a ton on the week.
