In China, nylon FDY70D/24F and FDY40D SD prices fell US cents 6 a kg in the third week of December. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were down US cents 6 a kg on the week. Monofilament 30D prices were stable while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rolled over during the week.
Nylon filament yarn prices softened that week on the back of dull chip market and decreasing demand. Buyers were cautious and thus inventory piled up slightly during the week. Demand was weak with increasing inventories, which would lead to lower run rates in near future. Overall run rate of industrial yarn plants was around 70% amid modest profit margins.
Nylon yarn makers may lower the offers to attract buyers in coming weeks.
