In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices increased US cents 4-9 a kg in the second week of march while FDY40D were up US cents 9 a kg.
Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were up US cents 6 a kg while 30D/10F prices were up US cents 2 a kg on the week.
Monofilament 30D prices inched up US cents 6 a kg while 1.5D staple fiber was stable on the week.
With continued rise in caprolactum prices and firming nylon chips cost, nylon filament yarn markets were under severe cost pressure, but any hike in prices met with resistance. Downstream mills resumed normal operation with circular-knitting mills, weaving mills and covering mills operating at modest capacities.
On the back of a mild increase in demand, the yarn markets saw the replenishment season picking up.
Demand for staple fiber, fishing-net yarn, monofilament and cord fabric improved, with a cautiously upbeat outlook. It is expected that nylon yarn prices will inch up in March since raw materials are fast recovering.
