Nylon yarn price inches up on high input cost

In China, nylon FDY70D/24F SD and FDY40D prices rose US cents 3 a kg in the second week of September. Nylon DTY prices were up US cent 1 a kg while 30D/10F was stable.

Monofilament 30D prices were unchanged on the week while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rose US cents 18 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn market in Asia marched north this week on higher nylon chips prices. Market sentiment was good on rising cost and modest demand. DTY market was relatively firm due to higher cost.

Industrial run rate was at 69%, with capacity at around 3.47 million tons per year. Demand for FDY and monofilament was decent. Warp-knitting, weaving and AJ covering sectors operated at 60-80% of full capacity.

Meanwhile, circular-knitting mills and lacing mills ran at 40-70% capacities. Overall, nylon yarn prices are likely to be stable to firm as high cost pressure will not let the prices drop.
