In China, nylon FDY70D/24F SD and FDY40D prices were both up US cents 7-10 a kg in the second week of August. Nylon DTY30D/10F prices also rose US cents 10 a kg on the week.
Monofilament 30D prices were up US cents 2 a kg while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices also inched up US cents 2 a kg on the week.
Nylon filament yarn producers in Asia hiked offers on the back of firm cost pressure and fundamentals were moderate amid cautious production and modest demand. Demand from wool spinning sector was sound while that from weaving sector was decent. Industrial run rate was at 70 per cent, with capacity at around 3.47 million tons per year.
Demand for FDY and monofilament was decent while demand for other products remained lukewarm. Warp-knitting, weaving and AJ covering sectors operated at 60-80 per cent of full capacity. Meanwhile, circular-knitting mills and lacing mills ran at 40-60 per cent capacities. Overall, nylon yarn market is likely to be steady in coming weeks.
