Nylon yarn price declines on weak input cost

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices were down US cents 5 a kg in the second week of January while FDY40D fell US cents 8 a kg.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices fell US cents 3-5 a kg while DTY 30D/10F prices rolled over on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices were stable while 1.5D staple fiber dipped US cents 4-9 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn prices continued to drift on low operating pressure on softening caprolactum and semi-dull nylon chips prices.

In China, nylon yarn makers trimmed operating rate resulting from poor demand at home and abroad with the approaching of lunar New Year. To top it, they operated at breakeven and faced supply glut, giving rise to poor confidence.

Fishing-net yarn and monofilament makers saw meager margins while cord fabric makers struggled to make two ends meet. Meanwhile, staple fiber makers enjoyed favorable profit margins.
