In the first week of September, prices of semi-dull FDY70D/24F in China fell US cents a kg 2-6 while FDY40D was down US cents 6-10 a kg. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices declined US cents 6 a kg while DTY 30D/10F was down US cents 6 a kg. Monofilament 30D was stable and staple fiber 1.5D was up US cents 10 a kg.
Despite increased cost pressure on higher prices of caprolactum and nylon chips, nylon filament yarn prices fell further in the first week of September on the back of insipid demand. However, industrial yarn prices were range bound. Limited order intakes amid dull season restrained demand for nylon yarn.
In non-textile sectors, demand for staple fiber was tolerable, while for fishing-net yarn, monofilament and cord fabric was modest. With market supply reducing and tepid demand, high inventory pressure increased on yarn makers. They also faced difficulty in reclaiming funds. Thus, it is expected that nylon yarn market will stabilize in coming week.
