Caprolactum price rises in Asia

In China, liquid goods offer was up US$25 a ton in the fourth week of September. Solid goods were stable. Asian markers, the SE and FE were at US$1,340-1,350 a ton.

Sinopec announced its September contract price which was up US$55 a ton from earlier nomination for liquid goods.

Caprolactum prices stabilized amid moderate demand to reflect firming benzene numbers on the week. Downstream demand was cautious while liquid caprolactum spot offers edged up and discussions and trading values followed through.

Run rates of polymerization units increased and inventory level was maintained at 5 days’ worth. Nylon textile yarn makers also increased run rates with inventory still at 27 days’ worth. Industrial yarn producers were running at modest capacity.

Given range bound feedstock and moderate demand, caprolactum market is likely to keep steady and with replenishment completed, prices may tend to remain stable in coming weeks.
