Asian caprolactum prices were up US$50 a ton SE and FE markers in the last week of January while East European goods were stable on the week. In China, offers and trading values were firm during the week.
Caprolactum markets remained firm in China amid thin trading as the Spring Festival approached during the week and trading activities had mostly ended. Mainstream offers and trading values were firm. Sinopec raised its February contract nomination for liquid, AA grade, goods, mainly from Baling Petrochemical and Baling Hengyi.
Downstream demand was also weak as yarn makers proceeded for the weeklong holidays. Upstream benzene prices moderated on the week which will ease cost support to caprolactum producers and with moderate demand, prices are likely to remain stable to down in coming week.
