Caprolactum price falls on weak upstream price

Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE softened US$50 a ton in the third week of April. In China, spot liquid caprolactum offers were down US$30 a ton at the upper end while solid goods were range-bound on the week.

Caprolactam markets were under weak fluctuation on the back of weakening benzene and energy complex while most players moved on the sidelines. In China, offers for liquid goods were down at the upper end of the range while solid goods offer remained unchanged. Offers from East Europe and japan origin were down amid slow liquidity and rigid demand.

For Asia, Sinopec and Fibrant maintained their contract nominations for April steady on the week. Run rates at polymerization units were steady at 65% with inventory level slightly up. Yarn makers run rate remained above 60%.
