Caprolactum price edges up on tight supply in Asia

Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE were up US$10 a ton in the first week of August. In China, offers for liquid spot were stable while solid goods offers were up US$120 a ton on the week.

Caprolactum prices edged up on the week on moderate demand and tight supply and on back of range?bound raw material benzene cost. In China, liquid goods offer in spot market were quoted at a roll over while solid goods were at hiked significantly.

Sinopec August contract price nomination was steady for liquid goods while Fibrant raised August contract which was up US$75 a ton from July for liquid goods. Reportedly, producers reduced operating rate and pushed for higher prices. Demand was modest with run rates at polymerization units below 70% while yarn makers reduced rate to 60%.
