Caprolactum price declines amid modest demand

Asian caprolactam markers, the SE and FE rolled over in the third week of September while Japanese goods were flat on the week. In China, offers for liquid spot fell US$40 a ton while solid goods offers were down on the week too.

Caprolactum prices edged down sharply on range bound raw material benzene cost and amid modest demand. In China, liquid goods offer in spot market inched down while mainstream values for solid goods declined. East European goods were stable at previous week’s level.

In contract, Sinopec announced September settlement lower than nomination. Sinopec announced September contract settlement which was down US$40 a ton from nomination for liquid goods.

In Europe, September contract price negotiations for caprolactum were going on with buyers and sellers divided over pricing targets.
