In China, medium-length staple fiber prices edged up on the lower range in the third week of March and fell at the upper end to US$1.84-1.97 a kg while cotton-type staple was at US$1.85-1.97 a kg.
Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices rolled over at US$1.58-1.65 a kg while offers for regular products were at US$1.50-1.55 a kg.
Anqing Petrochemical and Qilu Petrochemical nominated 1.5D cotton-type fiber at 12.45 Yuan a kg (US$1.93 a kg) and 12.05 Yuan a kg (US$1.86 a kg) respectively.
Acrylic staple fibre market saw prices moving up and down in China that week, while the overall level was in a narrow range. Trading atmosphere was modest, and producers maintained minimum inventory. With acrylonitrile cost rising, ASF prices fluctuated amid lackluster buying interest from downstream mills.
In India, ASF prices rolled over as buying interest remained subdued, given lackluster performances of yarn and fabric, without any bullish factors. ASF offers were up US cent 1 a kg due to strong INR.
Overall, ASF prices may hold on to their current levels, citing comfortable inventory and because of the upcoming plant maintenance shutdown. It is expected that demand will remain flat until March end.
In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices rolled over on the week.
