In China, cotton-type staple fiber prices were stable at US$1.80-2.03 a kg while medium-length staple rolled over at US$1.81-2.03 a kg in the third week of December.
Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for December with 1.5D at US$2.03 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.02 a kg, tow at US$2.10 a kg and top at US$2.24 a kg.
Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were unchanged at US$1.60-1.70 a kg.
Acrylic staple fibre markets stood still as upstream, acrylonitrile prices climbed mildly, further squeezing cash flow at ASF producers.
Downstream buying interest was fair given that ASF prices were at historically low levels.
Overall, liquidity of staple fiber improved, and that of tow and top was passable, on the back of fair demand. Transaction of flat fiber was mute.
In India, producers rolled over offers, while downstream buyers maintained hand-to-mouth procurement. ASF offers were steady at INR129-131 a kg or US$1.94-1.99 a kg.
In Pakistan, offers for regular products were partially rolled over on the back of soft demand. 1.2D ASF prices edged down US cents 2 a kg due to weak currency.
