ASF price remains stable amid subdued buying

In China, medium-length staple fiber prices in the fourth week of March rolled over in Yuan terms but fell US cents 2 a kg due to weak currency while cotton-type staple was down on the week.

Acrylic staple fibre spot prices were stable during the week in Asian markets. Buying interest of downstream mills remained subdued, reflecting lackluster outlook of yarn and fabric, without any bullish factors.

In China, run rate dropped that week as Ningbo Zhongxin was on planned maintenance shutdown, tightening overall supply somewhat. Sinopec issued monthly settlement prices, in accordance with monthly average price, and fresh list prices were flat to mid March level. Some ASF producers tended to make supplementary price hikes later.

In India, ASF offers were down US cent 1 a kg due to weak INR.

In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices were stable during the week.
