ASF price moves down in India

In India, prices were revised down in the first week of January since acrylonitrile cost had subdued in December. Offers were revised down INR6 a kg (down US cents 9) on the week.

In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over in the first week of January, however, were up US cents 2 a kg due to weak US$.

After rising sharply in the last week of December, acrylic fibre markets in China were stable on the week and producers hiked prices driven by higher cost, despite cautious mood. Downstream yarn makers still purchased regularly volumes, leading to active atmosphere.

In Pakistan, ASF prices rolled over given the firmness in input cost like energy while demand was still modest.

Overall, ASF producers are likely to raise the prices further in coming weeks, citing fair downstream demand coupled with firm raw material cost.
