Acrylonitrile prices continue to fall amid weak demand

Asian ACN prices were down US$25 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the second week of November while Southeast Asia was down US$30 a ton on the week.

Acrylonitrile markets in Asia continued to be under pressure amid weak demand in the region. Demand in December is expected to be much slower, which also supported prices to move down.

US acrylonitrile spot prices were assessed as steady, as tight supply continued to affect the domestic and overseas markets. Market participants said no spot trades were heard out of the US that week. Domestic contract price moved lower while export assessment remained stable.

In Europe, acrylonitrile spot fell on lower demand from Asia and expected weak propylene in December. European prices were US$5 a ton CIF Mediterranean on the week.
