Asian ACN prices fell US$10-11 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the last week of November while Southeast Asia moved down US$10 a ton.
Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets fell on the week on sluggish demand despite higher upstream propylene costs. Demand in Southeast Asia was mute. In China, spot prices retraced up later that week, after majors announced monthly settlements at high level to prevent further price drop.
In US, spot acrylonitrile was steady week on week as demand was stable but supply remained tight with expectations of tightness may ease in near future.
In Europe, ACN spot prices saw largest percentage fall since December 2008, falling 8% that week, as combination of oversupply, lack of downstream demand and competition added strong downward pressure on the market. Demand in India for European imports also slowed down. European prices plunged US$90 a ton CIF Mediterranean on the week. Initial November contract was agreed at plus Euro25 a ton.
