In the third week of September, offers for cotton-type staple fiber in China rolled over from last week. Taiwan origin 3D bright tow offer declined US cents 18-22 a kg.
Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for September was flat at August with 1.5D at US$2.46 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.45 a kg, tow at US$2.53 a kg and top at US$2.67 a kg.
In China, mainstream ASF producers maintained stable offers while buying in downstream yarn sector was need based with low run rates. However, overall negotiation atmosphere remained lackluster, citing concerns over ASF market development.
Under such background, it is expected that ASF markets will remain range bound, awaiting the release of month-end settlements despite the advent of traditional busy season.
The continuous fall in acrylonitrile prices was leading to pessimistic outlook for acrylic staple fibre prices and slowing down liquidity during the week.
In India, ASF offers were up US cents 2 a kg due to stronger INR.
In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices were stable on the week.
