In the vertical strip flammability tester, a test specimen cut from the fabric under test is suspended vertically inside an enclosure and the flame from a Bunsen burner is applied at its bottom edge. The time taken by the flame to propagate between two specified marks is then determined from which the numerical rating of flame resistance property found. This method is suitable for all fabrics which are in form of sheets or can be converted by cutting into sheets. Flammability Tester for fabrics consists of a vertical sheet metal cabinet closed on three sides and top and bottom. The front side is kept open for insertion of the test specimen. The test specimen is suspended from a clip such that it hangs freely in the center of the cabinet. Two marker wires are fixed behind the fabric under test such that they are located 28 cm and 155 cm below the clip. A removable auxiliary clip is also provided to enable shorter specimens of flame resistant fabrics to be tested. A bunsen burner of 9.5 mm diameter opening is placed in the lower half of the cabinet and can be moved on two guide rods to enable it to be brought vertically below the free end of the test specimen. A flexible pipe line with a needle valve is provided to control the flame height. Product Description | 45 degree Automatic Flammability Tester The specimen rack provides support for the holders in which the specimens are mounted. Its angle of inclination is 450. The rack can be moved sideways to enable fabrics of different thickness to be set at the specified distance from the tip of the jet with the help of an adjusting screw. A built-in finger is provided to gauge this distance for setting it to the desired value. The Specimen holder consists of two matched stainless steel U shaped plates between which the test specimen can be held. The specimen holder sits over the specimen rack in a precisely determined position 450 inclination and is so positioned that the igniting flame strikes the specimen centrally and 6 mm above the bottom edge perpendicular to the face of the test specimen. Five such specimens holders are provided with the equipment. The ignition arrangement comprises of a jet mounted on a extension of the shaft of a syncroset motor such that it can be rotated into a position perpendicular to the surface of the fabric. The distance between the tip of the jet and the surface of the burner can be adjusted to 8 mm. When the tip of the jet is moved away from the specimen, the jet becomes vertical. The flame is produced at the tip of the jet by LPG Gas. The motion to the burner tip is given with the help of the syncroset motor. The movement of the jet for starting ignition is given with the help of a push button. The ignition time is automatically recorded on an electronic digital time interval meter which starts as soon as the flame impinges on the test specimen and stops when a thread placed above the test specimen is burnt. Product Description | Elemendorf Tear Tester The tearing strength of fabrics, papers, plastic films, or other similar materials is determined by measurement of the work done in tearing through a fixed length of the test specimen using Elemendorf Tear Tester. The Elemendorf Tear Tester consists of a brass sector pendulum pivoted on anti-friction ball bearings on a vertical bracket fixed on a rigid metallic base. The test specimen is in shape of a rectangle and is held between two clamps, one of which is mounted on the pendulum and the other is mounted on the vertical bracket. Product Description | Rotawash Washing Fastness Tester is used for determining colour fastness of textile materials to washings. This is attained by mechanically agitating a specimen of textile in contact with pieces of specified adjacent fabrics in a soap – soda solution. Before being rinsing and dried. The change in colour of specimen and stains of the adjacent fabrics are assessed with standard Grey Scale. WASHING FASTNESS TESTER’ consists of a thermostatically controlled, electrically heated water bath made of Stainless Steel. The bath is heated by means of immersion heaters and its temperature controlled by a capillary type thermostat. The temperature of water inside the bath is displayed on a digital temperature indicator. The bath has a double walled hinged lid made of stainless steel sheets. The jars in which the test solution and the test specimens are kept during the test are made from stainless steel and are provided with rubber scales for water tight closing. They are held in a cast stainless steel rotor assembly mounted on a stainless steel shaft at the center of the bath and rotating about a horizontal axis with the help of a geared Motor. A clockwork timer is provided to stop the motor after a pre-determined time. The apparatus is fabricated on a sturdy angle iron frame and is completely enclosed on all four sides with mild steel sheet duly enameled in metallic green paint. The top of the apparatus is covered with stainless steel sheet. One hundred stainless steel balls of 6 mm diameter are supplied with the apparatus as standard accessory for providing beating action during the washing operation. Extra stainless steel balls and standard Grey Scales are available as optional accessory. TECHNICAL DATA : Number of Jars Eight Volume of each Jar 550 cc (Approx) Distance of base jars from the axis of rotation 50 mm Speed of rotation 40 to 45 rpm. Temperature of Water Bath Ambient of 980 C Motor ¼ HP 230 V AC.
