The American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Textile Association (India) (TAI). This agreement establishes a collaborative framework aimed at advancing the Indian textile industry through education and cooperation.
The partnership focuses on educational initiatives across the entire textile production process. It aims to improve communication and collaboration between the two organisations, simplify efforts, and increase understanding of standard development practices. The key objectives of the MOU include organising joint educational programs and utilising the resources of both organisations to support the Indian textile industry.
AATCC president Christina Rapa expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the significance of India’s dynamic textile industry. She stated, “This partnership marks a significant step in building global connections among professionals in textiles, chemistry, and colour science. We look forward to supporting the Indian market with quality testing standards, comprehensive training programs, and networking opportunities.”
TAI president Tulsi Patel expressed satisfaction with the partnership, describing TAI as the largest professional textile association in India, with over 26,000 members. He stated, “This collaboration will enable joint educational programs, seminars, webinars, and international conferences. It will also help members expand their knowledge and explore new market opportunities.”
In addition, AATCC has appointed Seshadri Ramkumar as its first Ambassador to India. This decision was made during AATCC’s Board meeting in November 2024. Ramkumar, a professor at Texas Tech University, is well-known for his contributions to advanced materials and holds honorary positions with TAI.
