Microban International, a global leader in odor control technology, has unveiled Freshology, a patent-pending and nature-inspired solution to tackle odors. The innovation was launched at ISPO Munich, held from December 3–5.

“Freshology was designed by optimizing the balance between different chemical profiles,” explained Ryan Scott, Senior Product Development Chemist at Microban. “Unlike traditional products that target specific odors, this technology captures a broad spectrum of body odors. It also enhances moisture management and improves the softness and texture of treated fabrics, offering consumers a superior experience.”

Freshology delivers advanced performance by neutralizing a wide range of odors, keeping textiles fresher for longer periods. It meets GB/T 33610 and ISO 17299 standards for combating four common odorants: isovaleric acid (IVA), acetic acid (HOAc), ammonia (NH3), and nonenal. This makes it a groundbreaking solution for managing unpleasant smells in textiles.

The technology integrates seamlessly into synthetic materials such as polyester, nylon, and spandex during the finishing process. It captures odors until the fabric is washed, at which point it releases the trapped odorants, restoring its effectiveness. As a nonionic technology, it supports the addition of other treatments during production without compromising the fabric’s integrity.

Freshology is free from heavy metals, offering a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to metal-based solutions. Additionally, it is mill-friendly, ensuring easy adoption into existing manufacturing processes, making it a desirable choice for textile manufacturers.
