Envalior has announced a partnership with Union Binding Company, an Italian snowboard binding manufacturer, to introduce the redesigned Travis Rice Falcor Signature Snowboard Bindings. The updated bindings feature Envalior’s Durethan® Blue, a nylon material that helps Union create its most environmentally-friendly snowboard binding so far. This material is part of Envalior’s sustainable product range and contains 90% sustainable raw materials.
The redesigned snowboard bindings stand out due to their innovative two-layer baseplate construction. This design consists of two separate layers: the core and the frame. This separation allows each layer to use specialized materials that deliver the desired performance and feel. The Durethan BLUEBKV315ZH2.0 material ensures the core is rigid and responsive, while the frame is softer and more flexible.
Durethan Blue’s raw materials are 90% sustainable, tracked using a mass balance approach. This system monitors the flow of renewable and non-renewable materials throughout the supply chain. ISCC PLUS certifications ensure that the volume of bio-based or recycled materials matches the amount used in production. This enables manufacturers to gradually transition to renewable resources while maintaining the same quality and performance.
“At Envalior, we believe sustainability and high performance can go hand in hand. Our ISCC-certified materials and mass balance method showcase how this is achievable,” said Günter Margraf, Director of Sustainability at Envalior. “This material meets the demands of winter sports without sacrificing performance. By integrating this solution into existing processes, we’ve made the transition to sustainable options easier. Sustainability isn’t just a target—it’s the way forward.”
