Pangaia unveils upgraded Flwrdwn in new DNA flower warmth collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-10-15 16:14:56 – United Kingdom

London-based apparel and material sciences brand Pangaia has enhanced its bio-based down alternative, Flwrdwn, in a new outerwear line called the DNA Flower Warmth collection. Flwrdwn, originally launched in 2019, blends wildflowers, biopolymer, and aerogel to create a breathable fabric that serves as an alternative to traditional down. The wildflowers used in Flwrdwn are harvested by hand from native prairies and are grown without pesticides or irrigation.

The latest version of Flwrdwn offers 83 percent more fill power compared to previous versions, thanks to a change in how the biopolymer is processed and formed. Fill power is measured in lab tests by determining the volume taken up by 30 grams of material.

The DNA Flower Warmth collection features three jacket styles, all filled with Flwrdwn insulation and covered in recycled nylon. The designs include a cropped puffer jacket for women, an oversized unisex puffer with a high-neck inner collar, detachable hood, and ribbed storm cuffs, and the unisex Flwrdwn gilet, which has a detachable hood and snap buttons, allowing it to be worn alone or layered under a coat for extra warmth.

Pangaia's efforts in environmental and social responsibility have earned the company "leader" status from the Fair Wear Foundation’s Brand Performance Check, which praised the brand for its commitment to ethical sourcing and improving working conditions throughout its supply chain.
