Hugo Boss Foundation, GVK Society partner for regenerative agriculture initiative

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-10-14 16:25:35 – India

The Grameena Vikas Kendram Society of Rural Development (GVK Society), a grassroots non-profit organization in India focused on building regenerative, circular, and socially inclusive agricultural value chains, has announced a partnership with the Hugo Boss Foundation. This marks the foundation's second long-term collaboration.

As part of this initiative, the Hugo Boss Foundation will donate US $546,000 over three years to support regenerative food and cotton landscapes across 5,250 hectares in the indigenous communities of Andhra Pradesh’s Eastern Ghats. The project aims to offer social and economic benefits while addressing climate change and promoting biodiversity.

Daniel Grieder, managing director of the Hugo Boss Foundation and CEO of Hugo Boss AG, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, "We are thrilled to support GVK Society in their regenerative agriculture approach, which aligns with our pledge to source all natural materials from closed-loop recycling or regenerative agriculture by 2030."

Aneel Kumar Ambavaram, chief functionary of GVK Society, expressed gratitude for the grant, explaining that it would allow them to expand into crops such as coffee, pepper, millet, turmeric, and ginger with global market connections, strengthening their regenerative agriculture model and improving soil health in the long term.
