Suedwolle Group is expanding its Suedwebs Innovation Hub through a new collaboration with Knitwear Lab, a Dutch Design and Development Centre. This partnership merges Knitwear Lab's knitting expertise with Suedwolle Group's proficiency in producing high-quality Merino yarns.
One highlighted piece is a fully fashioned dress with a plated rib structure that transitions into wide floats. The design cleverly adds width by generating and dropping stitches, using a multi-stepping narrowing technique to achieve extremely narrow angles. This dress is crafted from Merino wool from Suedwolle Group's Biella Yarn collection.
Another showcased garment is a fully fashioned jacket, knitted in 7-gauge, featuring a three-dimensional structure with double jersey flaps on a single jersey base, manipulated through a multigauge technique. The varying flap lengths push themselves down without needing takedown force. This innovative jacket is made from Nm 2/30 Merino wool from the Biella Yarn collection by Suedwolle Group.
Knitwear Lab's workflow ensures that the virtual knit corresponds with the materials and their specifications, allowing designers to preview yarn choices, structures, and placements before creating physical samples. This process saves both time and materials, making product development more efficient.
