Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals focused on sustainable solutions, Kipaş Denim, a prominent textile producer in Türkiye, and Jeanologia, a sustainable textile solutions company, are collaborating to introduce a new denim finishing process that enhances both aesthetic appeal and sustainability.
By combining their cutting-edge technologies, these three industry innovators have developed Kipaş Denim’s new Contra Denim concept. This breakthrough in denim dyeing and finishing allows brands to create striking and durable distressed looks, including intricate patterns, whiskering, and fades, using cleaner processes that save water and energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Contra Denim collection is designed to be laser- and laundry-friendly, producing deep, durable colors. The collection achieves stunning vintage effects and high contrasts through washing or laser techniques. It is is based on Archroma’s DENIM HALO approach, which incorporates resource-saving pretreatment and dyeing processes, such as DIRSOL® RD, to create easy-wash, laser-friendly denim.
The vintage looks of Contra Denim are achieved using advanced laser marking technology from Jeanologia. This collaboration between Archroma and Jeanologia completely eliminates the need for manual hand scraping or the use of potassium permanganate spray, which can be harmful to workers and the environment.
