Loop Industries, a Canadian company specializing in circular plastics and fiber recycling, has partnered with Ester Industries, a leading Indian manufacturer of specialty polymers, to establish a new joint venture. The collaboration aims to create a manufacturing facility in India to produce low-carbon recycled dimethyl terephthalate (rDMT) and recycled mono-ethylene glycol (rMEG), essential materials for various applications including textile fibers.
The new entity, named India JV, will leverage Loop's innovative processing capabilities and Ester's expertise in sourcing PET and polyester waste feedstocks. The "Infinite Loop" production program will merge the complementary technologies and skill sets of both companies, catering to growing demand across industries such as textiles, automotive, electronics, and packaging.
The facility aims to produce up to 70,000 tons of rDMT and 23,000 tons of rMEG annually, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to conventional production methods. The partnership underscores a commitment to sustainability and innovation in the polymer industry while addressing market demands for eco-friendly alternatives.
