The US-based non-profit Accelerating Circularity has announced the next phase of its Building Circular Systems (BCS) initiative. This initiative aims to speed up the development of circular textile-to-textile systems, reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the industry, and decrease textile waste in landfills and incinerators.

Building on past experiences, the BCS initiative by Accelerating Circularity aims to significantly increase material volumes, develop new technologies, and expand educational efforts. The nonprofit seeks to extend its reach geographically and form stronger partnerships with more organizations.

Participants in the BCS initiative can collaborate with peers to navigate regulations and transition paths, gain practical experience with circular systems, and work together to develop tools for commercializing textile-to-textile processes on an industry-wide scale.

According to Accelerating Circularity, the program enables businesses to meet their sustainability goals by using recycled materials and achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets. Previous trials of textile-to-textile processes by Accelerating Circularity have shown promising results, demonstrating the effective use of recycled fibers in yarns and fabrics.

Karla Magruder, founder and president of Accelerating Circularity, emphasized the significance of this milestone in advancing commercial circular textile-to-textile systems. She highlighted the initiative's focus on providing industry tools and education, allowing companies to apply learnings to their sourcing strategies.
