Teijin Frontier, part of the Teijin Group, has created a new fabric named Microft MX for sportswear and outdoor clothing. This material combines polyester and nylon filaments, offering a blend of texture and functionality from both materials.

Microft MX boasts the abrasion resistance and color development capabilities of nylon, along with the water absorption, quick-drying properties, and shape stability of polyester. The fabric is crafted from a highly-deformed cross-section multifilament yarn, providing bulkiness and a soft texture reminiscent of spun yarn.

The key feature of Microft MX lies in its composition of single filaments of polyester and nylon, achieved through a distinctive spinning technology. The evenly blended filaments contribute to vibrant colors, and the overall material resembles finely woven chambray, creating an optimal structure for weaving or knitting.

Teijin Frontier plans to launch Microft MX fabric in its 2025 spring and summer outdoor clothing and sportswear collections. The company aims to expand its applications to functional innerwear and fashion clothing, with a sales target of 500,000 meters annually by 2026. Teijin Frontier addresses the challenge of integrating the properties of polyester and nylon into a single material with the introduction of Microft MX.
