Julie Pelipas, the Ukrainian designer behind the brand Bettter, has collaborated with fashion retailer Browns to introduce a new upcycled collection. The collection comprises 26 pieces crafted entirely from deadstock fabric sourced from men’s suits.

This marks Bettter's first venture into physical retail partnerships. The brand is known for its commitment to sustainable fashion by transforming men’s suits into a range of women’s capsule pieces, creating a "practical sartorial toolkit tailored for urban dwellers.

The collection includes innovative elements like a coat seamlessly transforming into a blazer or vest, a meticulously designed bodysuit-shirt, and a backless waistcoat designed to elevate traditional tailoring. These pieces showcase Julie Pelipas's creative approach to fashion sustainability.

Browns’ buying director, Ida Peterson, commended Pelipas for her dedication to sustainability, particularly noting her recent LVMH Prize nomination. Peterson expressed pride in showcasing Bettter, describing it as a "labour of love" where Pelipas redefines the past to shape an extraordinary future. She emphasized that Bettter embodies determination, resilience, sustainability, and, above all, fashion.

Bettter's work involves utilizing technology and algorithms to streamline the upcycling of tailored garments. The brand deconstructs suits, seam by seam, and employs digital design-and-fit software to map virtual patterns and make necessary adjustments. This approach ensures that men’s suits are adapted to suit women’s bodies inclusively while preserving their original structure and proportions.
