According to Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, India is making significant progress toward sustainable textiles, reducing its carbon footprint, and promoting a circular economy. The Minister spoke at the 69th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) in Greater Noida and talked about the innovative and attractive products that the Indian textile industry makes that are sold all over the world.

Goyal emphasized the establishment of seven Indian states' Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks. By adopting a cluster-based approach to manufacturing and production, these parks aim to promote the textile industry in the country, resulting in lower logistical costs and the production of high-quality goods with appropriate testing facilities. The units within PM MITRA Parks will be able to effectively satisfy both domestic and international demand thanks to their advantageous location.

Guarantee that Indian buyers get the best quality pieces of clothing, the Pastor called upon all partners to focus on quality norms. Goyal urged the business to put resources into item testing and agree with laid out quality standards. Moreover, he encouraged the adolescent to drive advancement and foster new innovations that would work with the creation of predominant quality material items. The Minister emphasized the significance of raising standards of quality and professionalism in the textile industry.

Piyush Goyal also said that India is looking into Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs) with several countries. The purpose of these agreements is to make the Indian textile export industry more competitive and to increase the size of the market. India intends to expand its textile industry, increase exports, and access new markets through these agreements.

Recognizing the job of the Attire Commodity Advancement Committee (AEPC), Goyal praised the association for coordinating the India Worldwide Article of clothing Fair. The Minister acknowledged AEPC's efforts to support micro and small businesses, encourage new textile startups, and provide opportunities for millions of people to earn a living.

Goyal called for the National Capital Region to host the largest garment fair in the world at the end of his speech. The objective of this initiative is to improve the ecosystem of trade shows and encourage participation from industry players, business owners, and other stakeholders.
