The creation of GRAPHITO, an eco-denim fabric, is the result of a collaboration between Directa Plus (DCTA), a major manufacturer of graphene nanoplatelets, and Candiani Denim, an Italian textile company devoted to innovation and sustainability. The proprietary technology from Directa Plus, which offers antibacterial and thermal qualities, is combined with the bio-based polymer from Candiani Denim, which eliminates liquid plastic from the manufacturing process, to create this environmentally friendly denim fabric.

By lowering water, energy, and carbon emissions by up to 75% over the course of a garment's wash cycle, GRAPHITO offers special advantages. The thermoregulating qualities make it appropriate for all seasons, and its antibacterial and antiviral capabilities allow up to 10 wears per lifespan. With the introduction of GRAPHITO denim, Directa Plus has achieved a key milestone by giving consumers a premium denim option with a smaller environmental impact.

The amount of greenhouse gases currently emitted by the fashion industry each year is comparable to that of the economies of France, Germany, and the UK put together. Emissions must be cut roughly in half by 2030 in order to comply with the 1.5 degree mitigation strategy set forth by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and endorsed by the 2015 Paris Agreement. With this objective in mind, the newly released textile from Directa Plus is in line with the established objectives for sustainable fashion.

Given Candiani's relationships with major brands and production capabilities, as well as Directa Plus's sale of 74,000 metres of graphene-enhanced textiles in 2022, this agreement is a smart decision for Direta. For instance, Candiani has a production capacity that is roughly 400 times bigger than Directa Plus'.
