The ZDHC Foundation, which works towards the zero discharge of hazardous chemicals, has announced ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® Programme and ToxServices Full Materials Disclosure™ (ToxFMD™) Program, which are indicators of chemical formulations conforming to ZDHC's Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) v 1.1.

The ZDHC Gateway's Chemical Module now lists chemical products with the ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certification and the ToxServices Full Materials Disclosure™ (ToxFMD™) Program as Level 1 conformers to ZDHC's MRSL Conformance Guidance.

Frank Michel, executive director of ZDHC, said they're happy to have the two certification standards on board. Chemical formulations will not only be immediately checked and ranked within the ZDHC Gateway - Chemical Module but also certified by ECO PASSPORT and ToxFMD™ as Level 1, demonstrating adherence to the ZDHC MRSL. By obtaining safer chemicals, these new guidelines will enable them to strive toward their goal and support the sector.

The organization made the decision very early on to use existing certification as indicators of ZDHC MRSL conformity rather than developing its own certification system for MRSL conformant chemistry in order to hasten the worldwide impact of ZDHC's Roadmap 2020 program.

The ZDHC MRSL compliance levels range from 0 to 3. Higher conformance levels are anticipated to indicate greater certainty that a chemical product complies with ZDHC MRSL requirements and, consequently, a decreased likelihood that any ZDHC MRSL compounds are present in the certified chemical product.
