Swiss textile technology business, HeiQ and outdoor apparel brand, Patagonia have taken their long-standing research cooperation to the next level, announcing the debut of HeiQ Fresh MNT - renewably sourced mint oil-derived textile technology to reduce malodor development on textiles.
Patagonia and HeiQ's long-standing research collaboration resulted in yet another unique solution to an issue on many fabrics — malodor. Inspired by Patagonia's commitment to continually improving the chemistry used in all of their goods, the two pioneers present HeiQ Fresh MNT, a next-generation of sustainable odor control based on essential mint oil extracted from a renewable and sustainable source.
Patagonia and HeiQ have the same environmental and social philosophy, which has fueled the two companies' extensive research collaboration since 2015. Patagonia provides the concepts and principles, while HeiQ applies its knowledge in specialty chemical formulation and textile application to produce finishings that outperform the market in terms of sustainability and usefulness.
HeiQ Fresh MNT is the newest member of the HeiQ Fresh family of sustainable odor control technologies, joining the mineral-based HeiQ Fresh HAX and the bio-based HeiQ Fresh FFL. HeiQ Fresh MNT controls malodor development on textiles using a renewable and ethically produced mint oil-derived textile technology, giving fabrics with a long-lasting odor control capacity that keeps clothing smelling fresh and users feeling clean and comfortable all day. Based on ISO17299-3A test technique utilizing isovaleric acid, treated synthetic fibers outperform current industry standards in odor control.
Carlo Centonze, co-founder and CEO of HeiQ, said that their collaboration with Patagonia has always been fruitful since they consistently push their innovation skills. As a result, it is not surprising that they were able to find the potent characteristics of mint as an active element in their next-generation odor control technology. HeiQ Fresh MNT demonstrates its commitment to improving people's lives via sustainable innovation. With odor control, you can wash less, conserve water, detergent, energy, and microfibre, and extend the life of your clothes. They can all look forward to a cleaner-smelling society with natural, dependable, and long-lasting odor control.
Patagonia is the first development partner to commit to the technology and will begin upgrading its goods in the near future.
Laura Hoch, Material Innovation Engineer from Patagonia, said that they’re quite thrilled about this technology, and HeiQ is a fantastic innovation partner. Not only can HeiQ Fresh MNT keep clothing fresh in a sustainable manner, but it also outperforms what they now use. They have been diligently testing this technology and preparing the supply chain to deliver HeiQ Fresh MNT-enhanced goods to market as soon as feasible.
