LuisaViaRoma, which pioneered luxury e-commerce in 1999, is now entering the resale market, following a number of competitors who have made similar steps in recent months.
The e-tailer has collaborated with Vestiaire Collective on an initiative aimed at the circular economy, allowing users to sell previously used clothing for credit that can be used to purchase new items on the e-commerce site.
Alessandra Rossi, Chief Executive Officer of LuisaViaRoma, said that it is another milestone in LuisaViaRoma's sustainable path. They’re excited to collaborate with Vestiaire Collective and see the shopping experience in a new light.
Rossi added that by giving their consumers the chance to experience circular fashion firsthand, LuisaViaRoma intends to pique more people's interest in the importance of purchasing and selling popular luxury clothes and accessories, as well as the necessity to make conscientious decisions,.
The project begins Thursday with the launch of a dedicated page on luisaviaroma.com where clients can submit information and photographs of their clothing and receive an estimate within 48 hours. Vestiaire Collective performs a quality and authentication check on the clothing and accessories upon delivery and activates a LuisaViaRoma credit, which is made accessible to clients in the form of a gift card within four working days.
Used clothing is then sold on the Vestiaire Collective platform through a project-specific page.
Max Bittner, CEO, and Chairman of Vestiaire Collective, said that they’re thrilled to collaborate with LuisaViaRoma to offer their services and share their enthusiasm for circularity. Empowering the resale voice is a fundamental facilitator of more sustainable fashion industry. They will continue to join forces and battle alongside brands and retailers to urge their customers to embrace circular fashion by giving their products that they will never wear again a second life," he said.
